Simple to use, brews a quick pot, and the coffee is always hot. I've tried all the major brands, and keep coming back to Black & Decker. For whatever reason(s), the SMARTBREW brand doesn't succumb to hard water; I've owned two in 4 years, and neither have clogged up beyond the point of no return. (A little Spanish lingo, there).
Come on, dudes and dudettes. Because I happen to like hot coffee, it's a win/win.--D. 'Tis a coffeemaker that takes a licking and keeps on.making coffee. The BLACK & DECKER SMARTBREW COFFEEMAKER (I prefer the black model). If you want a coffeemaker that is going to last forever and never have any movable parts break (or come off), then be prepared to part with some very serious coin.
Because where I live, the tap water is harder than the leaf spring on my pickup; this kind of water is brutal on coffeemakers (clogs them up in a matter of weeks). Mikels, Esq. But if you want a dependable, economical coffeemaker without all the bells and whistles (And in the long run, who needs 'em)., then your best bet is the BLACK & DECKER SMARTBREW COFFEEMAKER. Por que, you may ask.
This is the first coffee maker that has a larger spout that does not spill when you pour your coffee
It looks cheap, and takes forever to brew a cup of coffee. The lid on the carafe is ready to break - you have to take it off to clean and it's only connected by little plastic hinges.
I'm going back to Braun, and the experience has eroded my confidence in Consumer Reports. I'm going to have to get a new coffee maker.
We bought this pot based on the Consumer Reports recommendation. We've had it 6 months, and the metal plate has rusted out (it's not our water, we use filtered).
Amazon reviews seem much more reliable. Major mistake.
But the major issue is that it doesn't hold up.
My only wish is that the outside water level indicator be easier to read. This coffee maker works better than the Braun that we had before. Coffee is nicely hot and flavor is excellent using Kirkland Columbian.
It makes great coffee and it pours perfectly and does not dribble on the counter. I became tired of pots with timers that stop working and make the pot unusable. It makes twelve cups of coffee in less than five minutes. I love this simple little coffee pot. I have been using this model for years primarily because it is simple and doesn't have much to go wrong with it.
